Heidenheimer - Marine Building
Built on Galveston Island in 1876 by Samson Heidenheimer, this two-story structure is of Victorian-era styling, with Italianate hood molds on the second level and ogee arches on the first story. The Heidenheimer Marine Building was damaged in Hurricane Ike in 2008. Structura was hired to repair the damage and return the building to its former splendor.
Structura replaced water damaged drywall and wood wainscoting throughout the building, installing tongue-and-groove beadboard wainscoting to match existing throughout. We crafted custom rosettes to match existing historical pieces, as well as remodelling the restrooms and bringing them into ADA compliance.
Structura matched the antique slate tile and refinished the wood flooring, in addition to upgrading all mechanical and electrical systems. Custom interior wood doors were also manufactured and installed, and exterior glass was replaced.
