Heidenheimer - Hunter Building
Built in 1878 by Samson Heidenheimer in the Italianate style, this historic three-story stuccoed masonry commercial structure on Galveston Island was damaged in Hurricane Ike in 2008. Structura was hired to repair the damage and return the building to its former splendor.
Structura repaired termite-damaged roof joists, and repaired the broken skylight. All the wood floors were refinished and water-damaged drywall and acoustical ceiling tile was replaced in the areas where the roof failed in the storm, over a third of the structure.
Structura coordinated mechanical upgrades and replaced the electrical system for all three stories of the building, as well as repairing slate flooring on the first floor and replacing windows on the second and third floors.
