Community First Village - Unity Hall
Unity Hall is placed at the heart of Community First Village, the 27-acre master planned micro-home community that provides affordable, permanent housing and a supportive community for the disabled, chronically homeless in Central Texas. The building serves as Mobile Loaves & Fishes Headquarters, as well as, their Great Sanctuary Hall for spiritual reflection and community gatherings.
The architectural design takes advantage of passive climate control strategies to create comfortable spaces throughout the year. The utilization of the Texas “dog trot” separates the quiet sanctuary space from the Mobile Loaves & Fishes offices. The building orientation responds to prominent wind flows so the large glass doors can be opened for passive cooling and interaction to the outdoor environment. The exterior features rain water collection tanks and the interior spaces are practical and simple.
