Won in a competitive bid, this renovation of a switching facility posed many technical and scheduling challenges. We were only able to work during the client’s maintenance window, midnight to 6 am. In order to install new HVAC and power components, we removed the existing ceiling in the battery room and installed a new elevated ceiling to accomodate the upgrades.
In order to accomplish this work, directly above the banks of live copper bus bars in the facility, we built a series of plywood decks over the exposed equipment. Safety and scheduling coordination was of paramount importance on this project.
